Mervyn is a relatively new member to the Birstall Woodturning Club but he has progressed from being a rookie to the dizzy heights of winning the first annual club competition. This has been achieved in only three years.

It became clear from the start that he 'was one to watch', because he took to turning like a duck to water. He is always looking to advance his abilities and comes to the club with ever more complex projects.

But Mervyn will be the first to admit that in the early days he had a good mentor in Keith Ambridge, a much respected turner and club member, who is sadly, no longer with us.

I think you will agree that the work exhibited here, has pleasing lines.
